PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — The Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office has announced the upcoming implementation of a new tax management and cashiering system projected to save taxpayers around $1 million annually in reduced overhead costs and transaction fees. The system is scheduled to go into effect on October 1, 2026, aligning with the start of the new fiscal year.
The government has an obligation to continuously seek cost-effective methods of service delivery. While the primary mission of the Tax Collector’s Office is to collect taxes on behalf of local taxing authorities, the office is also committed to being a good steward of that public money. This strategic initiative supports that commitment by leveraging new technology and improved processes to generate savings, which will be passed on to customers in the form of reduced fees for online, mail, and in-person transactions.
“After taking office in January 2025, I worked closely with my executive staff and management team to evaluate our business processes,” said Pinellas County Tax Collector Adam Ross. “Ultimately, we identified this tax management and cashiering system as a solution that supports our internal operations and generates meaningful cost savings for taxpayers. We are always seeking ways to improve the way we operate while remaining mindful of the public resources entrusted to us.”
State Senator Nick DiCeglie praised the initiative, stating, “Tax Collector Adam Ross continues to demonstrate what responsible, efficient government looks like. His commitment to innovation and fiscal accountability is saving Pinellas County taxpayers real dollars while enhancing the delivery of essential public services.”
Pinellas County Commission Chair Brian Scott also voiced his support saying, “Adam Ross is putting residents first by saving taxpayers $1 million, reducing wait times for Pinellas County customers, and lowering transaction fees for residents doing business with the Tax Collector. These actions show he is the right person for the job.”
The new system, which is similar to the current platform, is designed to ensure a smooth transition with minimal impact on daily operations or customer service. Ahead of the October rollout, staff members will receive comprehensive training, and the system will undergo rigorous testing to verify its reliability and readiness.
This project is part of a broader initiative by the Tax Collector’s Office to utilize technology in delivering high-quality, cost-effective services to the citizens of Pinellas County. This project could not be possible without the dedicated work of the employees of the Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office, the dedicated work of our vital stakeholders in Pinellas County government, and Polk County Tax Collector Joe G. Tedder and his staff who were so helpful in assisting our office in this search.
