PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – This August, local tax collector offices are working with the University of South Florida (USF) Alumni Association to raise funds to support educational scholarships and programs.
Customers coming into a Pinellas tax collector’s office in August will be invited to switch to the USF specialty plate and receive a special $25 rebate voucher from the Alumni Association. Proceeds from specialty plate purchases go toward USF scholarships and programs. Since its inception over fifty years ago, the USF Alumni Association has awarded more than $6 million in scholarships. USF Alumni can be found across the globe – and number over 384,00
Tax Collector offices will be decked out with USF banners, posters, and cardboard cutouts of the famous bull mascot, Rocky, to help promote the campaign all month. Employees will also sport USF t-shirts and buttons to promote the fundraiser.
“We’re proud to be a part of the great work USF and the USF Alumni Association do in our community,” Tax Collector, Charles W. Thomas said. “Being able to have a small part in making college more accessible and affordable for folks is noble work. Plus, our team is made up of a lot of USF alumni, so they are super excited to show their ‘Bulls Pride’ this month.”
The USF Alumni Association enriches the lives of alumni and students through meaningful connections, shared experiences, and continued engagement in the life of the university. USF was founded in 1956 and is one of the fastest-rising universities in the United States. With campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee, it serves approximately 50,000 students and offers more than 200 undergraduate majors, minors, and concentrations.
